In this school holiday workshop I had the pleasure of working with six wonderful young creatives in my studio today who attended the Fantasy Art Workshop.

It was an exceptionally hot day in Queensland (again) but fortunately we are blessed to have air conditioning in the studio which was working it’s little socks off to try and keep us all cool. Here’s what these talented youngsters produced today.

The Final Fantasy Artworks

Craig has almost finished his final drawing and he’s using chalk pastels. I love the colours in this, especially the purple and vivid red of the lava. This is a warrior you would not want to mess with. As we developed the scene, a volcano was added and little peeping eyes of monkeys hiding in the tree tops. Well done Craig!

Grace who is only 8 years of age has produced such a sweet, colourful and fun fantasy drawing of unicorn birds! Mum, Dad and junior. A pair of owls look on from the nearby trees and dolphins can be seen kissing underneath the tree tops. What a delightful scene and Grace has done a fabulous job with chalk pastels. The entire art work is below. Well done Grace!

This is a detail from Kate’s chalk pastel fantasy drawing and she’s drawn a beautiful fairy who flies over to the bridge at the magic lake every evening to meet with her mermaid friend. Kate has done a great job of blending her blues and aquas for the sky and water. Great job Kate!

I showed her how to paint the rocks to get a 3D effect and I think you’ll agree she’s done so well. I also love the ripples in the ocean and her sponged forest. The finished painting is below. Well done Jasmine!

All six children did so well and produced very creative artworks. It was a real pleasure working with these youngsters to help them bring their ideas to life. It was a very hot day, even with the air conditioning, making it difficult to concentrate but these six young artists should be very proud of themselves.
