Would you like to hire me as an artist in residence or to teach an art and craft workshop(s) in your school, college, business or studio?

I am a fully qualified, trained artist (Glasgow School of Art) and registered Queensland teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching art to children in Middle and High School years. I can also teach down to primary school level. I currently teach extra-curricular art to young creatives between the ages of 5-17 in my home studio at Oz Wildlife Studio. Visit the art classes website for a flavour of what we get up to.

Part of my role in my last teaching position was to help Middle school teachers teach art to the children in their classrooms. Core teachers wear many hats and have to be very diverse with their knowledge and expertise. This can often be stressful, particularly with the visual arts and all of the Middle school teachers I worked with told me that they felt inadequate and lacked confidence in teaching art to the kids in their care. After collaborating with these teachers and discussing themes they used in their every day teaching, I devised art activities and resources for them to use, did demonstrations and taught the units to the children in their classrooms while the teachers observed.
